RMIT deputy vice-chancellor Tim Marshall has introduced professor Vivian Mitsogianni as the brand new dean of RMIT’s Faculty of Structure and City Design.

Her appointment comes after a “prolonged worldwide recruitment course of”, the college stated, after which Mitsogianni was chosen for her expertise as an award-winning architect, a practice-based researcher, and an instructional chief.

Most not too long ago, Mitsogianni was a member of the varsity’s management group as affiliate dean for structure from 2013, and a professor of structure since 2017. Previous to this, she led the RMIT Design Analysis Institute’s Future Cloth of Cities flagship program.

Marshall stated he was “delighted” to have Mitsogianni onboard as dean, and expects her management acumen {and professional} expertise will make her a “great contributor” to the long run success of the varsity.

“The Faculty of Structure and City Design has had a major influence on the native and worldwide design professions by way of pioneering work in design and design-practice analysis,” stated Mitsogianni. “It’s a privilege to be chosen to guide a college that has an esteemed crucial mass of design innovators as alumni alongside persevering with and business employees.”

Mitsogianni succeeds Martyn Hook, who served as dean since 2017.
